Thecomas are benign tumours that are part of the sex cord-stromal tumour group of ovarian carcinomas.
They are typically estrogen-producing and they occur in older women (mean age 59; 84% after menopause).
They are solid and yellow.
The tumour cells are large with abundant lipid-filled cytoplasm.
Sixty percent of patients present with uterine bleeding, and 20% have endometrial carcinoma.
