Pilonidal disease is an anal disorder in which the anus or perianal area sees the development of ingrown hairs, which become embedded in the gluteal cleft and form sinuses and anal abscesses. This condition is always acquired, not congenital, and is treated with the surgical excision of the sinuses followed by a draining of the abscesses.
