Objectives
- When presented with the results of a history and physical examination students will be able to make a diagnosis of acute transverse myelitis.
- When presented with a list of common spinal cord signs and symptoms students will be able to correctly identify those one would expect to see in a patient with acute transverse myelitis.
- When asked students will be able to identify the two conditions whose signs and symptoms may mimic acute transverse myelitis.
- When presented with a history and physical examination students will be able to make a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and correctly identify the conditions to be considered in the differential diagnosis of this condition and the investigations that are useful in reaching the diagnosis.
- When presented with a history and physical examination students will be able to make a diagnosis of subacute combined degeneration and indicate how that diagnosis can be confirmed.
