Objectives
- Describe the gross and microscopic (when appropriate) appearance, mechanism of production, clinical presentation, and prognosis of
- Skull fractures
- Epidural hematomata
- Subdural hematoma
- Contusions (coup and counter-coup)
- Diffuse axonal injury
- Ponto-medullary rent
- Spinal cord injuries
- List the lesions most likely to cause post-traumatic deterioration (Edema, ischemia, hematomata, infection, hydrocephalus)
- Indicate the common pathological substrates of:
- Primary generalized epilepsy
- Temporal lobe epilepsy
- Other seizures of focal onset
- Indicate the mechanism of production of mesial temporal sclerosis.
