Kupffer cell

The Kupffer cells line the sinusoids of the liver and are attached to the endothelial cells. They are the largest group of fixed macrophages in the body. They are highly mobile and are exceedingly active phagocytes. The large size of the liver and tremendous numbers of Kupffer cells make the sinusoids a very important location for clearance of particulate matter from the plasma.
