Hepatitis A
From IKE
Hepatitis A is an acute viral hepatitis infection that causes diffuse liver inflammation. Diagnosis occurs by assessing IgG and IgM. Hepatitis A can be prevented through vaccination and appropriate hygiene, as its infectivity is primarily fecal-oral. Because it is a short-term disease, there is no treatment required unless complications arise.
The IgM antibody is a marker of acute infection, whereas IgG anti-HA merely indicates previous exposure to HAV and immunity to recurrent infection.
